The best way of knowing if you can get a bank account without a credit check is to call the bank ahead of time and ask them what their requirements are before you apply. Tell them you are interested in applying for a Checking Account with their bank, and would like to know if they run credit checks. They won’t think twice because they will want you as a customer, and will tell you right away if they do or not.
If they do, tell them ok I will be in shortly….even if you have no intentions of doing so.
Most banks run Chexsystems Checks, the bigger banks such as Wells Fargo, Citibank, National City etc., all Major Banks will most likely run a credit check.
If you know of a bank that doesn’t run a credit check please comment on this post with the name of a bank that you know doesn’t run a credit check. Thank you.
